Alcobendas will host the world's first printed bridge

Alcobendas printed bridge

Alcobendas has been the first city in Spain and in the world to install a pedestrian bridge made entirely by 3D printing of concrete following techniques of organic and biomimetic architecture. Thanks to the use of these techniques, it has been possible to design a bridge where all the built elements resemble the forms of nature, which in turn helps to save both energy and resources used.

With the development of this peculiar project, Alcobendas has managed not only to be the first to install an architectural element of these characteristics in the world in its city, but it is also considered as pioneer of large-scale 3D printing, a technology that surely very soon we will see other types of urban objects such as in the design and manufacture of urban furniture, helps to preserve the Historical and Cultural Heritage or, perhaps later, construction or civil engineering.

The Acciona company has been commissioned to design and manufacture the world's first 3D printed bridge.

If you live in Alcobendas or soon you are going to make some kind of displacement or trip to the surroundings, just tell you that this unique bridge, a structure twelve meters long and almost two meters wide, has been located in the park of Castilla- La Mancha. As a detail, it is worth mentioning that the Madrid City Council has commented that this project it has not entailed any type of economic cost to the Consistory.

Finally, just tell you that the real architect that this bridge has seen the light has been the company Acciona which has been in charge of the construction of the eight pieces that make up it while the design is carried out by the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.
