France will be the first country to create a fully printed home

printed housing

Today we have to talk about the latest statement released by the French company Habitat 76, a construction company dedicated in its day to day to the construction of social housing and that has just surprised us by announcing that, thanks to an association with CROUS, are ready to build in Mont-Saint-Aignan, department of the Seine-Maritime, a housing for students for which they will use 3D printing entirely.

As stated Sebastien Metayer, Director of Sustainable Development at Habitat 76:

We are facing a pioneering initiative in France that could be a complete revolution throughout Europe. The house could be built in two days, the robot does not sleep at night.

Habitat 76 will be in charge of manufacturing the first 3D printing study in France.

Going into a little more detail, as announced by those responsible for the project, all kinds of elements within the studio such as walls, furniture, bathrooms, toilets ... will be made by 3D printing. Apparently both the technology and the methodology that the company will follow to manufacture the property was already tested last September 2016 in the construction of a first wall 2,50 meters long by 3 meters high.

At the moment there are still many tests to do before an entire house can be built by 3D printing. Currently, work is being done on the evolution of the machine so that it can manufacture an entire wall with water pipes and electrical wiring included. Later, and after several months of testing, it will be time to build this house, something that could lead to late 2017 or early 2018.

At a technological level, tell you that today we are working on the development of a special machine that is being developed by the startup X-Tree. This machine is the same that you can see in the video that is right at the beginning of the extended entrance and that, as you can see, it is capable of working with a special type of concrete that is not too soft or sets too fast to allow machine can continue to layer one layer on top of another without blocking.
