Once again we bring you the filament testing from one of the leading manufacturers in the world of 3D printing. This time we are talking de FormFuture, a manufacturer located in the Netherlands with a wide range of products at competitive prices.
Between sus most popular products include:
- metalfil, which contains 80% metal particles.
- HDGlass, PETG filament with some references that allow the printing of translucent objects.
- EasyCork, very light and with approximately 30% cork
- EasyWood, a filament with characteristics very similar to wood as it includes almost half of its composition of different vegetable fibers.

EasyWood, Printable Wood
The manufacturer advises us to print at a temperature between 200º and 240º C and it does not emphasize speed but in all these special filaments it is advisable do not use very high speeds. The muestra sent is referenced as Olive color. And a personal recommendation, the filament is very brittle so be careful when loading it into the extruder of the printer that we will be left with a piece in hand.
For the initial tests in which we check how the material is extruded we have printed the sides of a Swiss army knife style keychain. This object is simple and with very smooth lines.
If something smells like wood, it has the feel and weight of wood ... is it wood? It is surprising to walk into the print zone while the printer is working and find that it smells like carpentry. Even more curious is to verify that the printed part has the feel, firmness and weight of DM, a material widely used in construction and cabinetmaking due to its similarity to wood. The printed object can be sanded perfectly generating chips very similar to those that we would obtain when sanding a piece of wood.
For the next printing we have raised the level of difficulty and we have printed a piece that would be almost impossible to make in wood, a groot bust (the Guardians of the Galaxy character who is a tree-man). We see that although the level of detail of the original design is very high the printed object has very good resolution and is practically error-free. Surely by slightly adjusting the Z resolution, extruder temperature and speed we could even improve the results.

The manufacturer advises us to print at a temperature between 240º and 260º C and it does not emphasize speed but in all these special filaments it is advisable do not use very high speeds. The submitted sample is referenced as “Dark”. Feeling brave for the good results obtained with the other material, we decided to dispense with simple prints and go straight for the Groot bust. So we can compare the differences between one material and another.
In this case we have also obtained some exceptional results preserving the high level of detail of the original model.
El material has greater flexibility than PLA both in the prints and while it is still a filament wound on the spool. This also translates into very comfortable support structures to remove even with the hands.
La flexibility that the printed objects have, the good impact resistance and Lightweight of this material have made us wonder if we could print the structure of a drone. The answer is YES and with very good results.
Conclusions on FormFutura's cork and wood filaments
Both EasyWood and EasyCork are exceptional materials with amazing technical features. Both of them print easily no warping problems and no need for hot beds. Really it's like printing PLA.
This type of filament will open up a new world of possibilities in 3D printing. We can easily repair our furniture or create objects destined for uses that were previously unthinkable.
