Adidas confirms they will finally bring 3D printing to their athletic shoe production lines

The idea that both companies have with the introduction of 3D printing in the manufacture of Adidas sports shoes is to achieve that production is automated so the time between product development and production is much shorter. According to Adidas officials, it seems that the company today takes about 18 months from when a shoe is designed until it finally reaches the stores, with the use of this technology it is expected that this time will be reduced to just a handful of days.

As commented Herbert Hainer, current CEO of the Adidas Group:

This type of technology is capable of changing the design and manufacture of sporting goods thanks to an automated, decentralized and flexible manufacturing process. Thanks to this flexibility, we can be much closer to our consumers in the future and produce in our sales markets. We are thus creating new possibilities, how, where and when we can produce our products, and therefore pioneers in innovation in our industry.
