Aitiip works on creating the world's largest substantive manufacturing and 3D printing system on a single machine

Aitiip

Finally Aitiip Technology Center, located in the autonomous community of Aragon (Spain), has been designated to coordinate all the progress of the European Kraken project, confined within the program EU Horizon 2020 and formed by a European consortium, which seeks to develop a single machine, the largest in the world, capable of coordinating subtractive manufacturing and 3D printing tasks.

Thanks to this project, Aitiip is creating what may be the world's largest subtractive manufacturing and 3D printing system, a machine capable of working with metallic and non-metallic materials while manufacturing pieces over 20 meters long with excellent quality and results. As announced, this project will be coordinated by José Antonio Dieste, director of the macarronic and advanced processes unit at the Aitiip Technology Center in Zaragoza.

Aitiip will create the world's largest subtractive manufacturing and 3D printing system.

According to declarations of Jose Antonio Dieste:

The project is a triple challenge since it has to develop new industrial manufacturing technologies through 3D printing, new subtractive manufacturing technologies and, finally, increase the control and quality of manufacturing. This is a hitherto unimaginable production framework "as it handles" parts over 20 meters long.

In order to develop this project, the collaboration of more than fifteen partners from eight different countries has been required, a budget of € 5,9 million and an estimated duration of 36 months. Among the most interested partners to mention, for example, the collaboration of Leica, Acciona, Pininfarina, Csem, Vero, Crf, Vbc, Ccimo, Atnms, Arasol, Espace, Alchemie, Twi and Teamnet World Professional Services.
