The University of Southampton We get quite interesting information since a group of researchers has developed a kind of biological wing endowed with a very similar membrane in terms of characteristics designed to imitate the functioning of those of a living being such as the bat. After many hours of design and testing, they have achieved that the operation of this kind of biological wing is very similar to that carried out naturally by any bat.
As specified in the paper published as a result of this interesting project, the wings have been created from a polymer that functions as the muscles that bats have. Thanks to this, it is achieved that the shape and the extremities respond hardening and relaxing to changing wind conditions in much the same way as the flying mammal itself would.

Undoubtedly, it must be recognized that, although we are facing a very early phase of it, the development of this type of biological wings can be more than interesting for a short-term future.
Among the most striking results of the experiment, it should be noted that thanks to these characteristics the device is capable of running, in principle, greater distances. On the other hand, it is not too complicated to adapt its shapes to devices both larger and much smaller. Undoubtedly a new step forward in development that, as we can see, has its inspiration in the animal world and its evolution, in this case in a mammal like the bat.
