Alibaba delivers its first packages via drones

Alibaba

Alibaba is one of the large product sales companies that are trying to start rolling out their programs with which it is expected to be able to deliver merchandise and all kinds of packages by making use of drones. On this occasion, the Chinese multinational has managed to deliver the first orders using this technology.

The idea they have in Alibaba is to start using this program to send packages to islands. For this purpose, they have begun to use three drones that have been able to transport a total of six boxes of passion fruit with a final weight of 12 kg. The drones began their journey from the city of Putian, belonging to Fujian province, bound for the island of Meizhou.

Alibaba already uses drones to deliver packages in Chinese islands

Considering the few details that have transpired about this first test of the project, the Alibaba engineers managed to deliver the merchandise despite the fact that at that time there was a strong wind that made maneuvering difficult. The drones took nine minutes to make the journey, we are talking about a distance of five kilometers.

As for the drones used, apparently we are talking about a new prototype jointly developed by Cainiao Network, a company that today handles all transportation for the Alibaba Group, Taobao, a retail purchasing platform and a home tech firm. These drones stand out, in addition to having been exclusively designed taking into account the needs of Alibaba, for being capable of transporting up to 6 kilograms of cargo each.

According to the first lucky ones who have had the privilege of being assisted by this means of transport, apparently and thanks to it waiting times can be cut in half.
