An Arduino board has served this young man to create a complete marine probe

marine probe

Today we have to talk about Tomas Rodriguez, a young man from Vigo (Spain) who today is only 14 years old and whose passion for electronics and curiosity has led him to be able to create a probe with which to measure many characteristics of sea water. Thanks to this project, Tomás Rodríguez has been admitted as a collaborator of Meteogalicia and Metoclimatic.

As has been revealed, apparently the idea of the author of this project is based on the creation of a probe that must be inserted into the water at a depth of one and a half meters, enough so that, thanks to several sensors, it is able to measure certain parameters such as the PH of the water, its conductivity, temperature and even salinity. All this data collected by the probe is finally sent through a high-distance bluetooth system to a briefcase that is in charge of receiving, processing and displaying the results on a couple of screens.

Tomás Rodríguez surprises us with an interesting Arduino project that he has designed and manufactured with only 14 years

As commented by himself Tomas Rodriguez:

I decided to do it last year, following a visit to the oceanographic ship 'Sarmiento de Gamboa', where there were probes of all kinds. And since I always liked electronics, I wanted to do this one.

I have done it with arduino boards connected to different modules and with a program to receive the data. As for price, it has not been expensive. I have had to buy the parts, the modules ... and hook them to the arduino board. Then I have an oscilloscope to measure voltages and every time it detects a new object in the water it draws a fish to mark it.

Regarding its operation, you have to put the probe in the water several times because the sensors are not the most expensive and you have to calibrate them, so every 15 minutes I test and see the results.
