Arduino 101, when Arduino met Intel

Arduino 101

During the last Maker Fair in Rome, the Arduino 101 board was officially presented. Arduino 101 is a board hardware libre, fruit of the union of Intel with the Arduino project. So this new board not only contains an Intel 32-bit Quark microcontroller It is also compatible with the Intel Curie project. In addition, Arduino 101 has 384 KB of flash memory, 80 KB of SRAM, an integrated DSP sensor, bluetooth, accelerometer and gyroscope.

The intention is that Arduino 101 is a useful tool for the educational world and for students to create useful and easy projects on the Internet of Things. That is why Intel has incorporated the connection to the Intel Curie module.

Unfortunately, this new board will not be available until the first half of 2016, We will have to wait a few months to be able to work with this board, now, the price of Arduino 101 will be very interesting, about 30 dollars or 27 euros to change, an attractive price for the power that it will give to our projects as well as the connectivity it offers and the sensors that will allow us to obtain many functions and special characteristics for our projects with a single board.

Arduino 101 will have a value of 27 euros

Intel and Arduino Project representatives have further reported that these plates will be added to the CTC project training to schools and teachers in the United States in the Hardware Libre. Although many will not be in the United States, the positive thing about this information is that it will indicate and confirm that Arduino 101 or its equivalent, Genuino 101, will be available before the end of the first half of 2016.

The truth is that the union between Intel and Arduino does not inspire me much confidence in terms of maintaining the freedom of the project, now, in terms of power it is clear that Arduino 101 will be a board to take into account for any project, too bad not is in the markets, yet.
