Arduino as the basis to power this peculiar underwater robot

underwater robot

Many are the centers that today are working with such versatile as well as powerful technologies such as Arduino. On this occasion I want to present you the latest project carried out by none other than the Crete Institute of Technological Education, a center located specifically in Heraklion (Greece) that have managed to create a kind of submarine controlled at all times by a card Arduino Mega.

As you can see, little by little there are many projects that are carried out on a platform like Arduino Mega, an example you have in this peculiar robot bio-inspired submarine or in the always peculiar project that we saw just a few days ago where you could measure the volume of your speakers in a very visual way.

According to official statement that accompanies the video that you can see just above these lines:

This video presents the development and motion control strategies of a small bio-inspired underwater robot that uses a pair of wave fins for its propulsion. Each fin is made up of three individually actuated spokes, which are interconnected by an elastic membrane. An on-board microcontroller (Arduino Mega 2560) generates the movement pattern that gives rise to the undulating movements of the fins, through which propulsion is obtained. The prototype, which is completely self-contained, also integrates an IMU / AHRS unit for navigation purposes, a wireless communication module, and an on-board video camera.

The video contains images of experiments carried out in a laboratory test tank to investigate closed-loop motion control strategies, as well as footage of the sea trials.
