Arduino Mega, an ideal board to build our own robot

ArduMcDuino

I usually talk to you in this blog about projects that are made with a small plate of Hardware Libre. Projects that do not need a lot of power and are therefore affordable for many users.

However, these types of plates cannot do everything and that is why there are their older sisters. In the case of Arduino UNO we have the famous Arduino Mega board, famous among the world of 3D Printing, but also in other fields such as robotics.

We have recently seen a success story with Arduino Mega, a case in which XenonJohn, a Scottish user has created robotic hands that can play the bagpipes. This project or this part of a robot has been called Ardu McDuino.

Arduino Mega can make robotic hands play a bagpipe

Normally there is no similar project and that is why the user printed prostheses with fingers thick enough to cover the hole in the bagpipe. Then these prostheses have been connected to the Arduino Mega board that controls all movements of the fingers of the prostheses to be able to emit a sound through a bagpipe or also perform other movements.

But Ardu McDuino is not the only robotics project that uses an Arduino Mega board. It has been a long time since several users decided to create replicas of IronMan and his armor, replicas that were functional and used the Arduino Mega as an electronic brain armor. They do not currently run a version of Yarvis but it must be said that it adds a touch of realism to the Ironman costume.

3D Printers are also another type of device that uses Arduino Mega, in general, together with the shield, they are in charge of moving and connecting the 3D printer with the computer. Arduino Mega is not a very cheap board and it already has its time, but it is still the most powerful board of the Arduino Project Do not you think?
