Arduino Tian a competitor for Raspberry Pi?

Arduino tian

The year seems to have started well for the Arduino Project and it has been released with a brand new Arduino board. This new plate is called Arduino tian, a powerful and interesting board because it is not just another board but it is an SBC board, equivalent to Raspberry Pi that the Arduino Project has launched to compete not only with the raspberry computer but also with all those solutions that exist for Internet of Things. Thus, Arduino Tian is focused on the Arduino world but it is also capable of running a Gnu / Linux operating system that allows managing the board's connections.

Arduino Tian also has a Wifi module that will allow you to make connections without needing any auxiliary board or having to buy or use Arduino Yun. All this will come installed on the board and will be used as standard thanks to the system used, in this case LininoOS.

Arduino Tian will have Linino OS and not Debian in its guts

The brain of this new board is a 32 ARM Cortex M0 Core and Qualcomm Atheros AR9342 processor. As for the Arduino Tian memory, the board has 64 MB of ram, 32 Kb of SRAM and 4 Gb of internal storage. Arduino Tian also has Raspberry Pi's signature GPIO, USB output, microusb port, bluetooth 4.0, Ethernet port and several LEDs to indicate the status of the board, such as the board's active or not Wi-Fi connection.

Unfortunately we have not found any place where this plate is sold although in the official website it is indicated that the plate is already sold in the markets. In any case it is clear that Arduino Tian is more oriented to compete with Raspberry Pi Model A than Model B although we have not yet tested the performance of this new board and it may really be the same as Raspberry Pi Model B.

Personally I think that Arduino Tian will not be able to be used in 3D Printers or as a personal computer, but still sure that this new Arduino board can occupy some functions that until now is used with Raspberry Pi What do you think?

Hopefully it will be produced in large quantities soon, and reach Latin American countries ...
