Asepeyo launches a medical research program related to 3D printing

Many of the advances that are being carried out within the 3D printing sector have a lot to do with the business and medical field and, for the latter not to be left behind, there have to be those formerly known as'patron', a series of people or, as in this case, entities, who are willing to invest in improving the lives of all. This is the case of the mutual health care asepeyo and its new medical research program.

Going into a little more detail, as the organization itself has commented, which has launched its program today in the hospitals of Coslada in Madrid and Sant Cugat in Barcelona:

Asepeyo is committed to 3D printing for medical purposes with the creation of a new program for medical research.

This medical research program represents a breakthrough in the treatment of complex fractures such as the pelvis and upper extremities. Its high degree of customization in the application in the field of traumatology for the recreation of bones and orthopedic pieces allows to design an exact piece for each patient.

Life-scale reproduction of severely injured bone models facilitates their understanding and provides the medical team with the ability to evaluate fractured bone structures prior to surgery. In turn, this technology allows the patient to offer more detailed information on their treatment and they are an excellent training tool.

Thanks to this program, it has been possible to develop a methodology through which, and through a CT scan, a three-dimensional reconstruction of the fractured area can be performed in a fully automated way. Thanks to this, a piece can be built using a 3D printer that reproduces the radiological image in detail.

As final data, expose the statements of the doctor Isabel garcia gismera, coordinator of the hospitals and manager of the Hospital de Coslada:

It is a technology that sometimes allows the surgical approach criteria to be modified, in order to achieve greater efficiency in the process. Expectations, with the advancement of materials and technique, are very ambitious in trauma pathology.
