Much has been said in recent months about the serious dangers posed by something as simple as a drone fan, not very aware of the great problems it can create, decides fly your device within the protected airspace of an airport causing not only that numerous departures are canceled, but that many other planes have to be sent to other airports.
This time I want to show you a video, I leave it just below these lines, from July 2 where you can see how a drone sneaks into the Gatwick Airport (London) causing that, up to two occasions, the air traffic of the same must be diverted and even the runway has to be closed.
NATS shows us how a controller must divert numerous flights from a Gatwick airport runway due to the presence of a drone
As a detail, tell you that the video has been uploaded by NATS, the United Kingdom air traffic control service provider and in it you can see in real time nothing less than an air traffic control radar of that same day and how the data is seen on the screen and you have to act in a hurry to avoid any kind of accident.
Explains Eric Cilliers, NATS Operations Supervisor:
Our first job was to deflect landing planes away from the runway where the drone was, which means tactically maneuvering the planes to avoid the area.
As expected, those responsible for the airport and those in charge of guarding the airspace in the United Kingdom have not been slow to launch an investigation to find the culprit of this recklessness that, in the worst case, could have caused the death of many people.
