This is how the Death Star made in Madrid by 3D printing finally looks like

Star of death

In a laborious work that has taken no less than 12 days, it has finally been manufactured in Madrid (Spain), specifically in a transparent container located in front of the Puerta de Alcalá, nothing less than a copy of the Death Star of 'Start wars'. We are talking about a symbolic structure of about two meters in diameter and more than 100 kilograms in weight where the great capabilities that 3D printing has today have been shown to all interested parties.

Once everyone has been able to enjoy for almost two weeks the work of the 3D printer in charge of creating this symbolic sculpture, it will be transferred, as has been commented from the production company The Walt Disney Company, to the Kinépolis City of the Image cinemas where it will be exhibited coinciding with the second weekend in which the theaters broadcast the film 'Rogue One: A Star Wars story'.

After 12 days of work, this is what the impressive Death Star made in Madrid's Puerta de Alcalá looks like.

So that you can get an idea of the enormous work that is behind this enormous structure, you can see the manufacturing process of it in the video that I leave you located just above these lines, we speak that those responsible have needed to build a 3D printer that they have not hesitated to classify as the largest in the world in its category. In addition to this, we cannot forget that nothing less than two and a half spools of thermoplastic polyester.

As for the printer itself, we are not only talking about a custom-made unit for this project, although its owners surely have more designs and projects in mind to carry out, but also and according to what they have said, it is ten to fifteen times faster than any other 3D printer and has managed to do all the work with a 5 micron accuracy. Undoubtedly, a whole technological show that does nothing other than demonstrate the high level that 3D printing has today in our country.
