This is what the new stamped concrete barracks of the US Army look like

Today we are meeting to discuss a new implementation that the United States military has for 3D printing. This time we have to talk about a project created by the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), a department that depends directly on the United States Army itself, in which they have managed to create 50-square-meter barracks through 3D printing.

So that we can finally see these photographs, apparently the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory has had to work on this project for no less than three years within the program 'Automated Construction of Expeditionary Structures'. Thanks to this work, it has been possible to demonstrate how power is totally viable construct semi-permanent concrete buildings by 3D printing.

The United States Army will use 3D printing for the construction of its barracks in the middle of the battlefield

As he commented Michael Case, Program Manager:

The Automated Construction of Expeditionary Structures project provides us with the ability to print custom-designed expeditionary structures on demand, in the field, using locally available materials.

Thanks to this new program, the Army will be able to print buildings and other necessary infrastructures, such as barriers, culverts and obstacles in any location.

At this point it must be borne in mind that the architects of this project also have been working closely with NASA to improve and advance the technology necessary for the construction of elements with 3D printing in concrete.

As has been revealed, in the early stages of the development of this technology, researchers have relied heavily on NASA's knowledge, although, once past a certain point, they have finally managed to start working autonomously, offering new and valuable experience that in a future will help in space exploration work.
