AWS Greengrass, Amazon's commitment to IoT

Amazon also wants to participate in the IoT phenomenon. It has recently launched a new platform within its AWS section that focuses on developers and companies that seek to offer the best of Amazon with their smart devices or gadgets.

The new platform is called AWS Greengrass. This platform uses all Amazon technologies for the user to create Internet of Things devices with few resources and with the least possible expense of themselves.

One of the benefits of AWS Greengrass is that use AWS Lambda, a technology from Amazon that allows the device to work remotely without being connected. This technology has been enhanced in AWS Greengrass and with this we will be able to make our devices not only collect data but also process them remotely without the need to be connected to the Internet. This will reduce data consumption since only the necessary data from the service will be sent to the servers.

Another AWS Greengrass feature is its interdependence with other devices. That is, our device with this technology will be able to communicate with other devices (if we wish) without having to connect to the Internet, with bluetooth modules or via cable. This will allow us to collect more data without using the Internet. With what this platform we can use it in places where the connection is non-existent or bad, returning from time to time to collect everything created by the device.

AWS Greengrass is available to everyone from the official website, but in terms of platforms, Amazon's new service is fully compatible with Gnu/Linux and all boards that process this type of operating systems. That is, all the plates Hardware Libre that we know. Furthermore there is a snap package for Ubuntu Core, so we can use the new platform in the Ubuntu Core system.

It seems that Amazon will bet stronger on IoT, a commitment that has been going on for years and is gradually becoming more consolidated Don't you think so?
