A group of students from the Centro e Enseñanza Técnica y Superior de la Cetys University Today they are news thanks to a project in which they have been working, nothing less than the creation of a drone by 3D printing for agricultural use, technology that, among other things, has allowed them reduce production costs by 80%. As a detail, before continuing to tell you that this peculiar drone is for agricultural use since it has been equipped with sensors and software capable of detecting pests in any plantation.
As explained Isaac Azuz Adeath, professor at the School of Engineering and advisor to the project, apparently it started a year ago. Back then the students created a printed drone that was capable of taking pictures. This year the project has continued to develop until it has been able to add the ability to capture infrared photographs to detect pests or diseases in the agricultural areas flown over.

The first tests carried out with this drone have taken place in the area of the Guadalupe Valley, a historically wine-growing place in the Ensenada municipality where, thanks to the use of this printed drone, they have begun to detect disease areas where the producers themselves already suspected there were pests. On the other hand, areas of healthy, strong and vigorous vineyards were also located.

Basically what the camera captures is the reflectance of the light and that changes if the leaf is green, dark with brown dots or is completely brown because it is dying. Thanks to the taking of these images, we can understand the decisions that winegrowers make and that affect the lines of vines. For example, some clean, some let the natural vegetation be covered, some put straw on them, some leave the same seeds that are discarded from the grape because they believe that this can help them retain moisture or things like that.
