Catec is made with one of the Sicnova 3D printers for aerospace use

catec

From the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies, CATEC, a collaboration agreement with the Sicnova Group, specialized in offering digitization and manufacturing solutions using 3D technology, for the development of new applications and exclusive advanced production solutions for the aeronautical sector. One of the most interesting points of this agreement is the acquisition by CATEC of a JCR 3 1000D printer, the same with which all research related to the development of future solutions for the aerospace sector will be carried out.

Thanks precisely to the incorporation of this new 3D printer to the CATEC headquarters, it will be able to greatly expand its experience using FFF type 3D technology, Cast Filament Manufacturing, for research and development of possible aeronautical, space and unmanned systems applications. The purpose of all this work, as the project managers comment, is to make the processes cheaper and automate as much as possible and expand the functionality of the solutions in order to transmit all this knowledge to the companies related to the sector. aerospace.

Catec acquires a JCR 3 1000D printer from Grupo Sicnova.

As for the printer itself, it should be noted that the JCR 1000 is a large format model developed entirely in Spain by Grupo Sicnova. This particular model has technology that allows it to manufacture parts up to 1.000 x 600 x 600 mm using up to two different materials using a single nozzle, a technology that is still patent pending and makes it one of a kind. Finally, note that this printer also has a heated bed and a closed environment with controlled temperature.

As commented Joaquin Rodriguez Grau, general director of CATEC:

This agreement is the confirmation that Catec has become a technological center of national and international reference in the area of Advanced Manufacturing and new technologies for the Factory of the Future or Industry 4.0, which are already driving the digital industrial revolution and will mark the future of new manufacturing processes in multiple sectors.

Likewise, it consolidates our objective and mission, which is none other than working together with the most important companies in the sector to offer high-value services and be able to transfer the latest technologies and advances to the industry in order to apply it in a multitude of industries and fields.
