Columbia University works on the manufacture of a new 3D food printer

food 3d printer

As you well know, little by little 3D printing is reaching many sectors of the market where, until now, no one could imagine that a technology like this could be a true revolution. This is possible thanks to people like Hod lipton, one of the world's leading experts in 3D printing and currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University.

Taking into account the extensive research experience of Hod lipton It is not surprising that your team is ready, as just announced, to have ready by the end of this year 2016 or, in the event of some kind of unexpected delay, at the beginning of 2017, a new model of 3D food printer, a prototype that, according to the few people who have been able to see it, has the appearance of a coffee machine but the ability to create dishes from materials such as cereal flours, gels, powders and even liquid ingredients, the latter, a priori , one of the most difficult to treat.

In just a few months, Hod Lipton will have his attractive 3D food printer ready.

Apparently, this new 3D printer would be equipped with a robotic arm equipped with no less than eight slots for the installation of frozen food cartridges. At the moment, the students who are part of the project are working on how to install an element capable of heating food using infrared. As one of the students working on the project has commented:

It was exciting to be able to design the dishes with the software, to see the drawing ahead of time, to see what is going to happen, to make interesting shapes and geometries. As these 3D printers improve, it will be interesting to see how far we can go with these machines. For example, I think it will be very useful in the health and nutrition field, especially in nursing homes and hospitals.
