Build your own word clock with Arduino

word clock

We are at the weekend and today I want to try to surprise you with a very interesting idea, specifically the construction of an attractive word clock With which to look at the time it will be quite peculiar and fun, it depends on our creative talents, it could even be much more complex and attractive, although to start with the experiment I think that the images that I present to you may suffice as well as serve as a guide.

As for the system itself, it uses an Arduino Duemilanove board, a very basic board, although any Arduino can be used for the project. You have to take into account a key point how to power the system, you can either use your power adapter or a system of batteries, batteries ... enough to be able to give the board continuous current at 12 volts. After this we will only have to create our LED light matrix that will light up depending on the word that we want to illuminate when indicating the time.

After having our LED matrix, we will connect all of them to a data bus and this to our Arduino so that, with a specifically developed software, we can check the time on the card itself and, depending on it, turn on some LEDs or others by sending the signal through the card output port. To make everything look much more attractive, we must create the clock itself, that is, a wooden cube (as is the case) with a cover where all possible time combinations will be read.
