As we have already seen on occasion, there are certain places in this world whose view is precious but, due to certain circumstances such as its difficult access, it cannot be appreciated as often as we would like. One of these points, precisely due to its access is not as famous as it should be, it is in Portual. We talk about Covao do Conchos, a hole located in the middle of a swamp located in the Sierra de la Estrella.
Going into a little more detail, Covão do Conchos, as you are imagining after seeing the image located right at the top of this same post, is a hole in the middle of a swamp where the water seeps down to the depths of the Earth. The truth is that little or nothing has this tremendous natural hole since, as we can understand when we look for a little information about it, it was created in 1955 by the Portuguese government.
This huge hole that you can see in the video that is just above these lines causes the water to fall through a series of tubes in a route of about 1.519 meters long. Thanks to the speed that the water takes in its vertiginous descent, it is achieved that, when passing through a series of turbines, they move, transforming this movement into electrical power valid for consumption.
Curiously and despite one of the greatest curiosities that we can find in the Portuguese orography unfortunately Covão do Conchos It is not one of the most visited sites by Portuguese tourism due, among other things, to the fact that to get to this point you have to go through very cumbersome and complicated roads not suitable for all people. To this we must also add that the lack of publicity makes this an unknown point.
