Create a remote control with your head movements

remote control components

El Hardware Libre Not only does it make it easier for us to have many technological accessories and gadgets that we could not have otherwise, but it also makes life easier for people who for various reasons cannot do everyday tasks such as changing channels or getting up to turn off the television.

Thanks to a project that uses the CHIP board and Arduino UNO, we can build a remote control that uses head gestures to change channels or turn off the device, usually a television, but you can use other gadgets.

For the construction of this gadget we only need a CHIP board, a board Arduino UNO, a webcam, a shield and various external triggers. These components are easy to come by, but a good recommendation is that the webcam has the highest possible resolution. This will help the webcam to better capture the movements of the head to transform them into the appropriate signal.

This project seeks to capture head movements and transform them into signals emitted by remote controls that can be captured by IR signals. We can do this project build ourselves from home thanks to the construction guide that we can find in the Hackday repository. Here we will not only find the construction or materials guide but also the software that we will need so that the webcam and the plates transform the movements into signals suitable for any device that needs an IR remote control.

Generally, all projects that use Hardware Libre they are very useful. But this case is special. And it not only allows the laziest to change the channel but also many people who, due to injustice, find themselves confined to a chair or bed for life. For them, this project is interesting and vital Don't you think so?
