Arcade machine with barrel
Many of us are often given very strange and implausible objects in relation to technology to do things. The same thing has happened to Matt Show, a user of the Hardware Libre to whom they gave a wooden barrel, yes like the ones from Donkey Kong and this same thing happened to Matt since he has converted it into an arcade machine thanks to a Raspberry Pi 2.
Thus, in the barrel it has introduced a Raspberry Pi 2 with an operating system focused on the world of video games, a flat screen that has been placed in the form of a lid and on top of all this a glass that in addition to protecting the monitor makes it we can also use the barrel as a decorative table.
On one side of the barrel, Matt Shaw has placed a support that works as an old remote control, similar to the arcade machines of yesteryear, the arcade machines that used to be thrown 25 ptas and you had a free game or two.
This barrel will use PiPlay and Raspberry Pi to function as an arcade machine
For this project we have used PiPlay, an operating system oriented to the world of videogames that not only allows us to run old roms but also can also adapt very well to the format of the machine for normal handling.
At the end Matt Shaw got the famous Donkey Kong to work in this barrel. Normally these examples are talked about to spark people's imagination, to create and make use of Raspberry Pi and the Hardware Libre in general, but in this case, I think that copying this arcade machine with a barrel is a good idea, at least as a decorative object it works and surely our good games can be played, especially now that the autumn afternoons are coming.
