Create your own mini Super Nintendo thanks to some clay and a Raspberry Pi Zero

Super Nintendo

When the Raspberry Pi Foundation made the launch of its new Zero model official, many saw in this tiny computer the possibility of doing amazing things with a cost less than 10 euros. Curiously, it is in the world of video games where this platform is being used the most, although little by little it is reaching new and different projects. Today I want to introduce you to the work done by Hugo Dorison, a quite famous youtuber who shows us how to create a Tiny Super Nintendo starting with the Raspberry Pi Zero and some clay.

To create, to call it somehow, the case that protects the card, the author of this project has decided to bet on a material that allows a lot of creativity such as clay. As you can see in the images, the truth is that the final result may seem somewhat rustic, surely some of those who will read this post can significantly improve the results and even bet on other materials and technologies such as Print 3D, but as a sample of what we can do, it is fantastic.

A rather curious detail is that due to the choice of the card, there is no space to integrate the original control ports so, on one of the sides, a pair of USB connectors has been included in the same arrangement in which they were found. on the original Super Nintendo. To manage these ports it is necessary to add a USB hub that is not built into the Raspberry Pi Zero. As for the software, the user has finally decided, among the many options, to install EmulationStation.
