Create your own Google Home for only 4 euros

Google Home

Today I want to show you a new project that this time has been carried out by Martin Mander, a user from the Raspberry Pi community who shows us the interesting way to create your own Google Home With a budget of less than 5 euros, curiously what it cost him to buy a 1986 Radio Shack intercom that has served as the basis for this project.

Of course, depending on the intercom or 'housing' that you want to use for that very special Google Home that you are going to manufacture yourself, the budget will have to be greater or less although, to carry out a series of tests, the only thing you need for sure is to have your aid at hand and ready Raspberry Pi.

You will only need a Rasbperry Pi to make your own homemade Google Home

As you are surely guessing, Martin's job at first was to completely disassemble his intercom in order to gain access to its interior and dispose of all the old electronic parts, which have given way to a Raspberry Pi together with a Google AIY, a DIY kit equipped with artificial intelligence.

This is the most interesting part of the whole project since this kit comes with everything necessary so that anyone, in the comfort of their home, can create a smart speaker. Unfortunately and at the moment this kit is not for sale to all users since it is in the process of development although the company has given some to developers.

As a final detail, just tell you that once on sale, it is expected that this kit will have a price of 50 dollars, a price that is still well below what a smart speaker costs today. The only one 'magpie'What we can put, at least for now and until Google says otherwise, is that their software Google Home only works in English.
