Create your own smartphone controlled electric skateboard

electric skateboard

Every day there are more young people in our parks and cities in general who enjoy a hobby as healthy as riding a skateboard, with this idea in mind today we meet Nick, author of the electric skateboard that I present to you today, a young man who decided that he wanted to continue riding a skateboard but did not feel like kicking the ground too much to gain momentum and move forward decided install an electric motor on one of the wheels in order to simply get on and enjoy the ride.

The idea, so as not to destroy one of his boards, was to create a completely new one to practice with, once it was ready Nick installed the wheels and, at the front, a fairly powerful motor attached to the wheel by a strap. The electric motor used on this occasion was a Turnigy SK3 192KV linked to a speed controller in real time through specific software available for any smartphone with Android or iOS operating system.

To get communication between the electric skateboard and the smartphone Nick made use of a Arduino Nano board attached to a bluetooth module with which the Arduino board is finally in charge of controlling the revolutions at which the motor rotates or not. Undoubtedly a more than interesting project that, in addition, you can see in the video that I leave you located just above these lines. Does anyone dare?

      Hi Eduardo:

Here is a link where you can build it step by step. In the video you can see the whole process as well.

If you finally dare with the project, once you have it, get in touch with us again and tell us how everything went ok?

      Regards!!
