Cubieboard 5 a rival for Raspberry Pi or for the computer?

Cubeboard 5

UbieTech recently launched Cubieboard 5, an SBC board that looks like a tough rival to the Raspberry Pi but is also can shade a traditional desktop computer thanks to its specifications and its price.

Cubieboard 5 has an eight-core processor and a price under $ 100, which makes it a powerful board but somewhat expensive compared to the Raspberry Pi. However Cubieboard 5 has other advantages such as a high ram memory, two video outputs and even the possibility of incorporate a lithium battery to make the plate more mobile, which makes Cubieboard 5 a great rival to the desktop computer.

Cubieboard 5 Features

  • Allwinner H8 ARM Cortex A7 Processor
  • 2 Gb of ram
  • PowerVR SGX 544
  • HDMI and DisplayPort port
  • S / PDIF and audio out
  • Ethernet port
  • Wifi and Bluetooth
  • 2 USB ports, SD card slot
  • SATA 2.0 interface IR sensor
  • U.S. dollar 99

Cubieboard 5 is compatible with any operating system that is compatible with the ARM A7 platform, this means that we can install any version of Linux, Android and even Ubuntu, but we will not be able to use operating systems such as Windows IO. Despite all this, the board is one of the most powerful on the market and despite having a somewhat high price, Cubieboard 5 offers connectivity and storage options that if they were incorporated into the Raspberry Pi, the price of the raspberry board would not be so cheap.

Personally I think it is a great option however it seems that does not have 64-bit technology and that is something that many seek, without forgetting that it has no GPIO port, something that means that many of the Raspberry Pi projects cannot be used, hence the inclusion of the desktop computer, because the functions that we can use with Cubieboard 5 will be more similar to those of a computer than to those of Raspberry Pi Do not you think?
