Delaktig, a hackable Ikea sofa

Delaktig from Ikea

Hardware Libre is a blog that focuses on Hardware Libre and in its modifications, but sometimes we find other elements that share the same philosophy as the Arduino or Raspberry Pi Project, but they do not have electronic components or at least they are not expected. This is the case of the Delaktig furniture from Ikea.

The Swedish manufacturer has tired of seeing how its furniture is modified and even new functions are added thanks to boards such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi and has decided create your own line of hackable furniture.

Thus, the first of these furniture it's called Delaktig, a piece of furniture that will be launched in the coming months and which will be partly a sofa, but a sofa that can be modified thanks to the various components that Ikea will launch for this model.

Delaktig will be an official Ikea furniture to be modified

The core of this furniture will be an aluminum structure with legs to which it can be assembled with other devices without messing up any component or without having to alter the components with our own hands.

Delaktig is an interesting piece of furniture for many who are handymen because they can turn a simple sofa into a leisure center where the user can change the channel or multimedia content with just one button. Something that can be done by connecting a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino board.

At the moment we only know this Ikea furniture but according to the Swedish company, the line or family of products of this type will be substantially expanded. Although the main point of this furniture remains a mystery, I mean the price of the furniture. A point that surely many people will make opt for this new line of furniture or continue with traditional Ikea furniture that can be altered what do you think of Delaktig?
