Desktop Metal patents a new technology to create separable supports

Desktop metal

Desktop metal is a company that in recent months is making a lot of noise, especially in the metal 3D printing sector. After presenting technological innovations for this sector just a few months ago, they are now back in the news thanks to a patent filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office where what they have called as Separable Supports.

The Separable Supports technology, according to the press release published by Desktop Metal that accompanies the patent and has been published, is a technology that allows the 3D printing of large complex parts by metal sintering in such a way that they can be eliminate the supports necessary for its manufacture by hand.

Desktop Metal tells us about Separable Admite, a technology that would allow us to create supports in metal pieces that can later be removed by hand

Heeding the words of Jonah myerberg, co-founder and technical director within Desktop Metal:

As an invention-driven company, we are committed to innovating and protecting our technology through strategic IP actions. The technological innovation of these patents allows users to print for the first time large metal parts with complex geometries that can be easily removed from their support by hand.
