Both the group PSA, matrix of brands such as Peugeot, Citroën and DS, as from Diverging 3D they have just announced a strategic intent agreement to bring the technology developed by Divergent 3D to PSA cars. This technology is based on conjunction of software, hardware and 3D metal printing to achieve not only minimize the production costs of a vehicle, but also seeks to reduce the environmental impact as much as possible.
As announced, PSA and Divergent 3D will work together on multiple projects, which will allow the use and evolution of Divergent 3D technology while modernizing the PSA Group factories to make them much more efficient. One of the key points of this agreement is the search by both companies of this model capable of completely transforming the design and manufacture of vehicles.
Divergent 3D and PSA join forces to try to revolutionize the automotive industry.
As a detail, tell you that Divergent 3D was the creator of the so-called as Divergent Manufacturing PlatformIn other words, a platform that ensured a drastic reduction in the economic and environmental costs generated during the design and manufacture of vehicles. Thanks to this technique they managed to design and manufacture nothing less than the prototype that you can see in the image located right at the top of this same post.
Based on the statements made by Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the PSA Board of Directors:
We are convinced that these spectacular advances in 3D printing will make it possible to position Grupo PSA as a leader in the manufacture of automobiles. It has the potential to dramatically reduce the footprint of our manufacturing systems, reduce the overall weight of vehicles, and give us almost infinite flexibility in design. We are talking about a change rooted in our industry.
