Diwo, a portal for Spanish-speaking makers

Diwo
Yesterday an official event of the company Bq Readers took place, a company of Spanish origin that is little by little specializing in the world of Free Hardware. The last big step of Bq is the official presentation of Diwo, a Bq website who will be in charge not only of collecting news related to Free Hardware but also of explaining and teaching the educational community (children and parents) how to use it. From creating and printing our own parts with a 3D printer to assembling our own robots with educational kits.

Although we must not forget that Diwo is a commercial website of Bq, the project is very interesting and will have a great future since it is not only limited to Bq products but also deals with many open source issues that allow us to reproduce, modify or change it without necessarily having to go through the Bq cash register .

In addition, Diwo will concentrate all the necessary documentation to make these pieces and be able to manipulate them, all this information will be in format Creative Commons, that is, it will be Free, like the software they will deal with, which will be Free Code.

Diwo will promote Free Software and Hardware

Diwo will also pick up the most basic software and how to use it to make our prototypes, robots and prints successful, regardless of age or prior knowledge. This point is the most interesting as I see it, since currently there are many and many projects that come out related to Free Hardware but there are few that explain the software that handles this type of hardware as well as the existing alternatives.

In this last aspect Diwo stands out and it seems that it will be what makes it stand out since currently there are not many more websites that collect the software and the few that are doing it are being privatized little by little, let's hope that Diwo does not suffer the same fate than its competitors, at least as far as the educational community is concerned.
