The drone taxi begins to carry out tests in the United States

After several years of development, finally the Asian firm Ehang has managed to obtain permission from the Institute of Autonomous Systems of Nevada (United States) to start testing its taxi drone, officially known as Ehang 184, in work of transporting people within the state itself. As announced, thanks to this authorization the company manages to achieve the milestone of being the first to get permission to test a drone for this purpose.

Now, as is logical and expected, we could say that this authorization is only partial since Ehang does not have full permission to carry out the tests but must report all the actions that the taxi drone will perform during each of its tests. to the Nevada authorities who in turn will inform the FAA first-hand so that it is the one that finally gives the green light or intervenes in this regard. Because of this, the Chinese company hopes that begin to carry out the first tests in the United States at the end of this year 2016.

As for the ship itself, tell you that we are talking about a huge drone with an autonomy of about 23 minutes capable of carrying a maximum load up to 100 kilograms transporting it at a maximum speed of 100 km / h. In terms of dimensions, we have no less than 1.50 meters high by 4 meters wide with a final weight of 200 kilograms, a volume that must be moved thanks to the 106 kW of power of its four double helix rotors.

As a final detail, tell you that we are talking about a fairly mature project since, although the FAA is quite concerned about the measurements and weight of this peculiar taxi drone, the truth is that it is not the first time it has been tested, much less Nevada the first state, if within the United States, that authorizes Ehang to test his drone. At this point tell you that, for example, companies like Lung Biotechnology have acquired nothing less than 1.000 units of this drone to be used as urgent transport of organs in networks of hospitals and medical centers.
