precision olive cultivation

Undoubtedly one of the crops that Andalusia is most committed to is the olive grove sector, hence there are many interests that converge to develop this type of crop making use of the most innovative techniques that are arriving. to the market. This time we have to talk about a project that is being carried out in the University of Huelva related to him precision olive tree cultivation using drones.

This project, known as TecnOlivo, is framed within the framework of the European Union of 'Technologies for the management and supervision of olive cultivation' and thanks precisely to this it has been possible to provide the project with financing of 2.504.708'41 euros.

Thanks to the precision cultivation of the olive tree, it is expected to generate new business opportunities and quality employment in Andalusia

To carry out this project, not only will a team of researchers from the University of Huelva work led by Professor José Manuel Andújar, but also collaborators of the stature of the National Institute of Aerospace Technology, Andalusian Cooperative Society Nuestra Señora de la Oliva, National Institute of Agrária e Veterinária Research, Ubiwhere Lda. and MURTIGAO - Sociedade Agrícula, SA, the last three institutions based in Portugal.

Thanks to all the joint work of these institutions, it is hoped to develop a easy-to-use, marketable technology solution for any farmer that is capable of allowing a comprehensive, ecological and optimized management of the olive grove through non-invasive monitoring of agronomic parameters of interest.

Undoubtedly and thanks to this project it will be achieved, or at least those are the expectations of all contributors to the cause, to create added value to the olive grove sector in practically all of Andalusia, in turn promoting the transfer of technology developed by the University of Huelva itself, seeking above all the generate greater business opportunities and quality employment.
