US develops 'inexpensive' missiles to shoot down drones

United States

United States It is one of the military powers that is most accused of the remote attack that many of its enemies carry out on its troops using low-cost remotely controlled drones. Because of this, and like many other armies like that of Spain (among others), programs are being developed to get them attacked without using expensive multi-million dollar equipment.

For this and contrary to many other bets, in the United States they seem to have found a possible solution in the development of a new series of Modified missiles much cheaper to manufacture than conventional ones, which, according to the tests carried out, can offer the same performance as the current ones without the need for each of them to cost several million dollars.

The United States will use its new inexpensive missiles to shoot down any type of drone that is considered a threat

As has been revealed, we are talking about a new generation of missiles that have been developed by the Raytheon company. These have been equipped with different state-of-the-art technology such as proximity sensors that are used to make them explode when they are close enough to their targets, something that increases their effectiveness exponentially.

These new missiles that will soon begin to be used by the different security and attack forces of the United States stand out, in turn, for another series of characteristics such as their price, almost 100 times lower since we are talking about 38 thousand dollars compared to the 3 million it costs a conventional missile, while they are capable of flying at a maximum speed of 2.700 kilometers per hour.

Without a doubt we are talking about characteristics that the US government liked very much that, after seeing the tests carried out by the company in charge of its development, they have not doubted its effectiveness. As a detail, they were carried out just a few days ago in Florida, showing that these missiles can be launched from the ground by means of a cannon, or from the air and sea by helicopters or ships.
