Eurecat presents a new methodology for 3D printing

Researchers belonging to Euroecat Technology Center, located in Barcelona (Spain), have just announced that after many months of research and development they have managed to design a new technology that allows manufacture carbon fiber reinforced parts by 3D printing. Technology that, among other things, would allow to create parts up to 3 times lighter than those made of titanium while reducing costs quite drastically.

As he has commented during the exhibition in which, Marc crescenti, one of the people in charge of Eurecat spoke of the project, one of the advantages of the new technologies is that they allow to process a great variety of materials, including plastics, ceramics and metals or directly offer the possibility of placing the fibers in all directions with a great freedom of design which in turn allows to further reduce the weight of the structures, of special interest in sectors such as aerospace.

Technically this new research and especially its results could be adapted without major problems to any of the multiple 3D printing technologies that today coexist in the market. This would allow the manufacture of highly optimized structures thanks to the use of high-performance materials so that it would be possible to go one step further and develop our much lighter and stronger structures.

Without a doubt we are facing a new step that certain sectors will surely like it that today are already beginning to make real use of this type of technology such as the automotive or aerospace sector since it would allow them to make much more resistant parts while being faster, more ecological and above all, perhaps The most interesting thing for this type of company is to considerably reduce the manufacturing costs of a certain product.
