Filastruder, a machine to create a cheaper PLA

filastruder

Currently the cost of 3D printers has dropped a lot, a cost that many think is not real since the cost of materials or PLA filament is still high and could become even more expensive as it happened long ago with the ink of 2D printers. . So many are creating ideas to satisfy us with the materials and not depend on the industry and the prices that it is imposing.

Some time ago we told you about a project that reuses coffee capsules, an interesting project that has had imitators, such as the creator of Filastruder, a lover of the maker world who has created Filastruder, a relatively simple machine that creates plastic filament from buying plastic in bulk, in small balls, a material that costs much less than current PLA and that we can buy and make in larger quantities.

If you look at the image, Filastruder uses a tank where the plastic is kept, then it is heated and as the plastic softens, it is shaped with a nozzle that will create the filament. The good thing is that Filastruder is open source, that is, its creator, Dinçer Hepgüler has left everything necessary for us to build them in your Instructables profile, so we can make one without having to pay large amounts of money, or shipping costs, or having to wait a long time.

It takes an expert to build Filastruder

The materials are basic, but yes, its construction is not highly recommended for novices, what's more, in a moment you have to control the Arduino and install some programs to control the temperature, a somewhat difficult task for a novice but essential since It helps to give a regular heat when the filament is created.

Although the name does not accompany Filastruder, I think the invention is curious and necessary for the maker world. Normally we talk about 3D printing being easy and simple, but it is also true that like a 2D printer, bad prints are usually made, the part breaks, damages, etc…. which in the case of paper does not involve much expense but in the case of PLA it can make us spend a lot of money, so something like Filastruder I see as necessary or more than an object scanner.
