Fuchsia OS, Google's next revolution in Hardware Libre?

Logo of Google

In recent days Google has given a bell with information that has made it news these days and will undoubtedly be news in the coming days. I am referring to Fuchsia OS project, a project that talks about a new Google operating system. This has been very popular because some have rushed and have affirmed that it will be the operating system that replaces Android and Chrome OS, however the reality is quite different.

On the one hand Fuchsia OS is an official Google project, something that no one can doubt due to its relationships, but it is based on Google's Magenta project, a project that seeks to connect software with devices.

There is no question about Fuchsia OS 'relationship with Google

Furthermore, in the official project repository, we have all the code created in it. Code that we can use and compile to install on a Raspberry Pi 3, so that really Fuchsia OS does not seem to be an operating system to replace Android or Chrome OS, since the code would be for a mobile or a Chromebook. So it seems that everything indicates that Fuchsia OS will be a software for devices related to IoT or Hardware Libre, trying to be the software for boards like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BeagleBone Black, ODroid-C2 or Banana Pi.

Yes, I know that Google has its own operating system for these platforms but the reality is that it is not being as popular as many expected. A) Yes, Brillo OS could be reconverted to Fuchsia OS or simply live with Fuchsia OS, as Chrome OS and Android are currently doing. In any case, if we take into account that many users are for both Android and Chrome OS to Raspberry Pi, it seems that the raspberry board will have up to four Google operating systems, something that not all companies can say they have.
