Fuse, the new joint project of General Electric and Local Motors

Fuse

Fuse It is a project that the multinationals have just launched together General Electric, the same one that we have talked so much about during these last weeks, and Local Motors. Fuse today is focused on an online portal (fuse.ge.com) as a headquarters where entrepreneurs, scientists, markers and programmers from around the world will come together to try to solve the challenges of developing new products that are to reach the market.

Once all the unknowns are resolved, the products will be manufactured in micro-factories where they will meet entrepreneurs, students, customers and staff of General Electric. These micro-factories will be equipped with 3D printing machines intended for rapid prototypes and even for the manufacture of small runs. As a detail, this project today is much more mature than you can imagine, so much so that the first of these micro-factories will be inaugurated next December in the city of Chicago, United States.

Fuse, a project to bring together entrepreneurs, clients, developers, makers, scientists and more people from all over the world.

For its part, for Local Motors, the launch of Fuse has allowed the creation of the new division Forth. Basically it is a way that while Local Motors focus on the collaborative creation and micro-manufacturing of vehicles, mainly by 3D printing, Forth is the service platform that will allow this philosophy to be extended to other industrial sectors, including companies like General Electric or Airbus.

As commented Dyan finkhousen, Director of Open Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing at General Electric:

For the leading company in the digital industry, Fuse is the way to accelerate innovation in manufacturing. With Fuse, we will bring together brilliant minds with agile manufacturing centers to transform product and technology innovation.
