Once again the multinational General Electric once again shows the enormous interest that the company has in the development of 3D printing, a technology for the future that today needs more researchers and especially qualified personnel to be implemented in all types of companies. With this in mind, General Electric has just announced the creation of a new aid program in which it will seek to provide both colleges and universities around the world with 3D printers.
For this work, General Electric executives have announced that they will allocate a total of $ 10 million over the next 5 years to this end. The idea, as stated by Mohammad Ehteshami, Vice President of General Electric Additive, is to build a rich additive manufacturing ecosystem across multiple industries, a task to which his company feels very committed in the long term.
General Electric will invest 10 million dollars in equipping educational centers with 3D printers of different types.
Without a doubt, a sensational news for all the institutions that are interested and that should send their request to the General Electric Education Program. As has been reported, this program will be divided into two parts, the first, endowed with 2 million dollars, will allow to subsidize the acquisition of 3D printers that use plastic as manufacturing material, this part of the program will be completed with student centers between 8 and 18 years old.
Second, where up to 8 million dollars will be invested, it will be in the subsidy of up to 50 metal 3D printers to university centers, also with priority for centers that already have research and training programs in additive manufacturing. The deadline for submitting applications is until February 28th 2017.
