It is very true that today practically all manufacturers and designers of washing machines and household appliances in general seem to have agreed to evolve their products to make them more and more ''Smart'based on internet connections that, at times, may not be entirely secure. If you are one of those seas that always have an idea in mind or like to develop new projects, today I show you a simple way to get that your washing machine sends you a notification to your smartphone telling you that it has finished the laundry.

The idea of ​​this project has been developed by the user Shmoopty which proposes a rather ingenious way to get a more or less old washing machine to notify us that the laundry has already finished. In general terms, the idea is based on the fact that if the washing machine stops vibrating it is because it has finished working. In this way and endowing our Raspberry Pi From, for example, a vibration sensor and a specific script, a couple of lines of Python for example, we will have this unique project ready.

Going into a little more detail, tell you that for this project the author has used a Rasbperry Pi Zero, a 2 GB microSD, an 801s vibration sensor, a microUSB network adapter and a USB dongle to add WiFi connectivity to the card. With this simple hardware you will be able to install Raspbian in the first place on the Raspberry Pi Zero, connect everything to the card and give it access to the hardware to, finally, execute the simple script that it has also made available and that you can download from this link GitHub.
