Google suspends its autonomous drone project due to financial problems

Google

Google, or rather Alphabet, is a company that until not long ago used, quarter after quarter, to offer better and better financial results. Unfortunately they have reached a point where these, sometimes, are not as interesting as they should be, so the last quarter already structural changes occurred Of the same. A clear example is how certain new projects have been frozen and even canceled, which, unfortunately, still do not receive income, but the money to be invested is too high.

Due to this, it is not surprising that those responsible for the company have begun to cut budget precisely in these projects and one of those that has been frozen indefinitely is Project Wing, same in which the company was trying to develop a series of completely autonomous drones capable of delivering all kinds of items, beyond courier guidelines since the idea was to reach a kind of agreement with all kinds of companies to deliver in a matter of minutes from raw materials and food to consumer goods.

Google freezes development of Project Wing until further notice.

Personally I was very surprised that Project Wing was one of those chosen by Google to be frozen since just a few weeks ago they reached an agreement with the Chipotle chain at the University of Virginia to test this program. Apparently and according to what is discussed in Bloomberg, Google would have already contacted Chipotle for cancel your alliance as well as one, currently unannounced, with Starbucks. In addition to this, it appears that most of the assets working on the project would have been relocated to other areas of the company.
