Thanks to this project, several drones will be able to work together

work with drones

If you have ever been in a fairly large construction or have even been able to see it on television, you will know perfectly that even transporting a material or lifting it through the air using two cranes is something much more complicated than we can imagine. Imagine if we now intend to carry out this task using drones whose control knobs are extremely sensitive.

This work is precisely the one that several researchers of the University of Zurich which, during their latest tests, showed that being able to transport loads using several multirotor drones was already a reality thanks to the software that they had been developing and testing internally for months.

Researchers at the University of Zurich make it possible for several drones to transport goods as a team autonomously.

Among the most peculiar characteristics of this new tool, highlight for example that, by using it, multiple drones can orient each other and work as a team. To do this, all units that are immersed in a specific task must determine their position using their own sensors and cameras.

One point that I personally found quite interesting is that to make this happen, work in pairs or with several units, at all times one of these drones must be considered as the team leader, which must set the direction, speed and even the height of the flight while the others follow it adjusting their location based on the parameters that this leading drone offers them.

Without a doubt, we are facing an advance that, although at the moment it's just a project, The truth is that it can become much more relevant than we think in the not too distant future thanks, among other things, to the fact that it can be perfect not only for construction work, but also for parcel delivery or directly to move materials from one place to another within a warehouse or factory.
