Thanks to this agreement, Daihatsu will be able to offer vehicles and parts designed and customized by important local designers in Japan, parts that will later be manufactured using 3D printing.

In order to make this collaboration a reality and offer its fruits as soon as possible, Daihatsu has been collaborating with the 3D printing solutions company Stratarsys, with the industrial design company Znug Design, Inc. and even with the designer Sun Junjie for a few years. months. Thanks to this, custom parts will begin to arrive for the entire Daihatsu vehicle catalog in just a few weeks.

Among the designs that the local public has liked the most, highlight the one baptized with the name of 15 effect skins, an effect made up of geometric and organic patterns in 10 different colors that can be 3D printed using the Stratarsys Fortus printer. As a detail, tell you that customers who decide to purchase one of these pieces, will be able to modify the parameters of the designs themselves, which significantly increases the options and allows them to achieve a unique and personal design.

As a final detail, tell you that these pieces will be created through the use of thermoplastics ASA, a very durable material, resistant to UV radiation and that provides a fairly good finish. The Effect Skin project designs will be tested in select markets during 2016 and their global commercialization is scheduled for principles of 2017.
