A group of students from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, UPM, are responsible for a project as interesting as it is effective since it is trying to create a system capable of catch pollution that is in the air using an increasingly common product in our cities such as drones.
The project has been baptized with the name of Urbanbees and has been selected to participate in the 'Tsinghua-Santander World Challenges of the 21st Century', an international and multidisciplinary contest that rewards students' innovation for their contribution to society. Among the selected projects we find not only the one that brings us together from the UPM today, but also those from such prestigious entities as MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Oxford or Cambridge.
From the UPM they seek to capture the pollution of our cities using drones.
One of the members of the group in charge of the development of this project, Sergio Pérez, has commented that during these same weeks of the month of August a demonstration will be carried out in Beijing where the feasibility of the project will be really checked. Undoubtedly both Sergio Pérez and the rest of the members, Alejandro Fernández, Diego Ortega and Yajing Zheng, they have one of the projects that is causing the most expectations in their hands.
At the moment there are still points to be clarified how the use of filters o magnets to better capture airborne particles. On the one hand, the use of filters is more interesting but also heavy, secondly we have the option of using magnets that may not be as effective due to the fact that there are certain particles in the air that do not react to the attraction of such a system. kind.
