Levi's shows its first collection of jackets made by 3D printing

Levi's

Levi's is one of the most recognized North American brands worldwide, something that with the passage of time has shown us that it is usually a double-edged sword since, contrary to what it may seem, they must work and you are always fully updated to technological level, hence we should not be surprised when they talk to us about 3D printing technologies applied to the manufacture of their garments.

Going into a little more detail, we have to go until February of this year 2017, just when after a meeting of their managers at Levi's they decided that the time had come to work for the sustainability of its products, a huge challenge for a company that has kept its star garment unchanged after almost 150 years on the market.

Levi's already relies on 3D textile printing as an essential element for the manufacture of its future products

To meet this new Levi's requirement, Paul dillinger, current director within the Department of Innovation of the American brand, this demanding task. Once he got to work on it, the quickest and most viable thing he could find in the market was to meet up with the guys from Pier 9, an Autodesk New Technology Workshop, to take a closer look at all the issues that a milestone like this represented and how best to address them.

Everyone quickly realized that perhaps the best option was to rely on 3D printing. After all this time, from Levi's they have managed to manufacture their basic denim jacket using the latest 3D technologies on the market. Undoubtedly, that a brand like Levi's relies on 3D printing of textiles, it is a great step forward for this technology within this sector.
