L'ex-designer, bar in barcelona fully 3D printed

l-ex-designer-bar

In Barcelona we found a space very special, located on one of the new axes gastronomic from the city. We are talking about Ex-designer, a bar that prints itself using multiple FDM printers and kilos of filament.

El own premises have 3 Cartesian printers working tirelessly in the background to print all parts missing. The pieces are made of PLA, a material based on gray cornstarch. Glasses and utensils are printed on Modified ABS, adapted and certified for gastronomic and medical use.

How L'ex-designer arises.

Between 2001 and 2002 Martí Guixé and with Inga Knölke develop the concept of this project and presented by Evolutionäre Zellen (Berlin). 90 m2 of a space in continuous evolution that encourages us to break with the psychological limits that we have imposed on ourselves. Halfway between art and technical discipline, it takes concepts such as "collaborative economies" and "crowdfunding."

A visit to the premises.

L'ex-Designer is located at calle Entença 3, in BarcelonaIt is a long place with a bar counter and several stools as protagonists. As you enter and approach, you recognize the characteristic and rough texture of the objects printed by FDM printers. The unmistakable noise that is heard in the premises confirms our intuitions. And it is that the Bar is far from finished, the interior of the local started completely naked last year moment in which the project began and since then piece by piece the space is completed by printing all the equipment used in a bar (glasses, plates and utensils for cocktails and for the kitchen). 2 years the project managers calculate that it will take time to complete this feat.

And it is that in the own bar have 3 Cartesian printers working tirelessly at the back of the premises to print all parts missing.

The pieces of this huge puzzle are made of PLA, a material based on gray cornstarch. Glasses and utensils are printed on Modified ABS, adapted and certified for gastronomic and medical use.

The future and objectives of the project.

After the tools and internals are printed, machines will be used to print food. And surely one of the first dishes that will come out of this peculiar kitchen will be "SPAMT". The tomato bread presented at the Galleria H2O in Barcelona in February 1997.

The ex-designer's goals are, on the one hand, to build a new perception of design, which starts from technology, innovation and fiction, defining a new relationship between culture, art and business. On the other hand, it seeks to establish and consolidate the new parameters of the creative class. Proposing the "business model" as a new artistic discipline.

Activities carried out in Ex-Designer.

The bar that is open from 6 pm to 11 pm Monday to Friday but also eIt's a platform where they overlap various activities. From symposia, networking, experimentation, action, research ... Open-end

We are facing a very interesting project that we hope will inspire other entrepreneurs. Perhaps if you visit the place, you will be awakened by the muse of creativity.
