MarkForged, one of the pioneering North American companies in the creation, design and manufacture of 3D printers that allow the addition of continuous fiber in the manufactured parts, today surprises us with the presentation of what they themselves have baptized with the name of MarkForged Onyx, a filament that incorporates carbon fiber particles into its structure.

As a detail, something fundamental to try to understand what they do at MarkForged, tell you that today the company uses nylon as main material of work. On top of this, continuous fiber is incorporated, made of fiberglass or Kevlar, either inside or outside the pieces, thus providing the structure with high resistance while maintaining weight.

Now and thanks to this presentation, the users of the MarkForged Mark Two They will also be able to make use of carbon fiber which, as you can see in the photos, differs by offering a quite striking matte black finish. Among the most notable features of the MarkForged Onyx, mention for example that this new material is a 3,5 times stiffer than nylon and offers a bending temperature under load of 145 degrees centigrade.

Among the company's comments, it is worth mentioning that according to the tests carried out on this new material, apparently during the manufacture of large pieces the «warping»Which in turn would allow to create large overhangs and deep corners. Another point in favor is found in the final finishes, thanks to the matte black and a fairly smooth surface finish, it is achieved that the pieces show a really good looking.
