Michelin shows us its indestructible 3D printed tire

 Michelin

Michelin is one of the best-known tire manufacturers in the world thanks to the excellent characteristics of its products and, above all, to being present in the best international competitions on the planet, something that serves, in turn, to significantly improve the brand image of the company in front of potential consumers.

Today we meet to talk about the latest great novelty presented by the company, a new tire, baptized as Concept Vision, which stands out, according to the company, for being indestructible and biodegradable. One of the parts that may interest us the most in Free Hardware is precisely that Michelin has had to use 3D printing techniques for its manufacture.

Michelin shows us its new concept of biodegradable and indestructible road tire.

Precisely and to study how 3D printing can change the way tires are manufactured today, the French company has decided to create Fives Michelin Additive Solutions, a subdivision of it, which has subsequently been renamed as AddUp, which seeks to study all the possibilities that 3D printing can offer to this competitive market sector.

As for the tire itself, as you can see on the screen, so that it can be indestructible, it has opted for a system where the air has been eliminated from its interior. For this, it has been necessary to bet on a mesh that can only be manufactured by 3D printing and that results in a tread that can be modified according to the weather and the road where it is going to circulate. As a detail, tell you that the center of the tire is made of biodegradable and recycled materials such as cans or electronic components.
