Microsoft MakeCode, Microsoft's program for little ones to learn Electronics

MICROBIT

Currently there are many projects related to Education and learning of new technologies. Projects like Arduino, Raspberry Pi or Micro: Bit were born with an educational purpose that has not only achieved but has far exceeded.

But having an SBC board or hardware is of little use if we do not know how to use the related software or use all its functions. Hence they exist institutions and associations that help school teachers to teach and use this type of plates.

Large technology companies also want to participate in this end and little by little they are collaborating or creating their own projects. This is how it is born Microsoft MakeCode, a Microsoft project that consists of helping the little ones use motherboards. Hardware Libre such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino or Micro: Bit.

This project consists of releasing a series of tools that will be the software base that the student will use to communicate with the board and with all its functions. At least that is the intention of Microsoft, of course, there are other alternatives such as Arduino IDE, Raspbian or Scratch.

However, for Microsoft lovers and for teachers who are forced to use Windows, it is quite an interesting tool. Microsoft MakeCode not only contains the Hardware compatible libraries but also has a block editor for the code and another editor based on Visual Studio Code that goes by the name of Monaco.

Microsoft MakeCode has a version for Adafruit, that is, for the plates that the Adafruit company creates and another version for Micro: Bit, the BBC free plate. All the information about these projects as well as the code to use this project can be found in the official Github repository.

Microsoft is taking a lot of interest in the Hardware Libre and by the IoT, something that may bother the defenders of Free Software, but it must be recognized that the interest of a large company in this type of project makes the project go ahead, which in the end is the most important Do not you think?
